Alien In A Strange Land

This meeting was odd and uncomfortable for the black she-wolf. It was the first time she had spoken to another wolf who only spoke english. Back home, there were some who spoke broken english like she did but they preferred Hindi, just like her. It was certainly a learning experience.
Thankfully, the white she-wolf was patient with her as she struggled through her words. It was probably just as frustrating for her as it was for Yesubai. She wished to speak clearly but that would only come with time.
When words started to come from the lips of the other wolf, Yesubai's hopes dropped. Though she was half expecting it. She had no idea where she and Kishan had washed up. She had been wandering aimlessly for a while now and was completely lost.
The name of the she-wolf was Song. She thought it odd to be named such a thing. To name someone a word was something that wasn't done in her home place but, perhaps she was a wonderful singer? Maybe that was how wolves were named here. Song then asked about where she had come from. What was the word for(1)"Bhārata"again? She thought for a moment to come up with the english word. She knew that it sounded much different from the Hindi word. This would be so much easier if english was at least similar to her native tongue. But, after a moment of pondering, the word came. "I from India," she said in a friendly tone. She was quite pleased for remembering the word. She didn't mind the question though she would keep the part about the boat and her father out of the story from now. Yesubai was usually a very shy wolf but Song was easy to talk to and feel at ease around.
Song said that she hadn't heard her accent before. Yesubai thought that maybe Song had never heard of her country? She had no idea where this piece of land was. They could be a stone's throw from India or on the other side of the world for all she knew. Her whole life at this point was a big pot of confusion and questions and being lost. For the record however, the english accent wasn't necessarily easy to understand either. She had only ever heard English in an Indian accent.
