The Things That Are Deadly

Viper struggled a bit in his grasp and he could still see the raw fury surging within her. She pushed against his leg, trying to free herself but it was no use. He had a firm grip on the small fae. Chi applied a bit more pressure, pushing her down into the sand as he waited for her to explain what in the hell was wrong with her. The words that she eventually spoke weren’t the words that he expected to hear.

‘I’m never good enough,,’ were the words that she finally spoke. Chimera wrinkled his nose and stared down at her. What was she talking about? Not good enough for what? Didn’t he choose her? Wasn’t she his woman? Females were so fucking confusing. He made her a den. He bought her a fucking dog. He didn’t let her die out in the cold when he very well could have. Chimera had no idea where in the hell her mind was.

Viper yelled, telling him that she didn’t need anyone. Chi furrowed his brow, the corner of his nose rising. The big man stepped back, allowing her to rise if she wished. His gaze hardened somewhat and he huffed. “Fine.” If she didn’t need him, then she didn’t need him. If she was this fucking crazy, then maybe he was better off without her. She still didn’t tell him just what was bothering her, but it seemed that it was all in her head. Her own weaknesses rising to the surface. Whatever.

“If you don’t need me, then fine.” Chimera turned and began walking back towards the den that he shared with Siren. Dalila was already forgotten. He was still completely baffled by today’s events. Not able to put two and two together, Chi chalked it up to women being fucking crazy.
