Throbbing pain ran up her leg as she limped up an incline in the valley, grumbling all the while in her mind, tail flagging slightly to keep her balance as she favored her left foreleg. The injury wasn?t serious, a twist in her lowest joint, the ankle. It was a lapse in care on her part. She?d seen an herb that she?d needed, growing in a difficult spot, banked against the river that ran through the area, and had needed it. Lily Of The Valley. Excellent for heart problems. It had rained the day before, and the rocks she had been balanced on were slick with wet moss. She?d gotten her plant, but had slipped at the last second, off the rocks, catching her paw in a crevice, twisting it before she?d wrenched free. And so she was going back home. She?d managed to get enough of the plants she?d been here for, and her only annoyance was from the twisted paw. It would heal, with a long soak in the spring fed pool at her den, and with a nip of anti-inflammatory plants. She paused, bending her head to lick at her ankle. She kept her ears open, listening for any approach from other entities, whether friendly or foe. She wouldn?t be able to fully defend herself if it were the latter. |
