Indigo woke Duchess before anyone else was finding their way to wakefulness. There was only a hint of sun as he led her out of the impressive main entrance of the castle, their course heading towards the border and the beginnings of morning patrol. The young Fatalis’ normal routine included the first of the day’s patrol so he was bright and chipper as the frogs and crickets began to give way to the birds that sang the sun’s salutations. It was going to be a hot day, and the heavily furred beast was reminded why he preferred morning shift.

He didn’t just bring Duchess out to enjoy her company though, he knew she was training with Emersyn and he was curious what she had learned so far. He hadn’t mentioned that part yet, after they got to the plains he’d explain himself further about why he wanted her to take the morning patrol with him. Besides wanting some time together, he was still unsettled about everything they said to each other. She loved him and didn’t want to know the truth of what really stood between them. Nothing had changed, they snuggled at night and snuck away whenever they could, but that was why the feeling remained. He wasn’t acting in Duch’s best interest, but he continued along with her, destructive or not. Indigo liked being close to her.

Even if she didn’t appreciate the early hour he was eager to share a sunrise with her. The golden hour when magic seemed to linger over the lands. Sapphire eyes stole a glance beside him, he’d let her be grumpy with him as long as he got to watch her wade through the grass bathed in the sunlight of a new day. ”Are you awake yet?” His tone was sweet but he was obviously teasing. Indigo nuzzled the crown of her head and smiled softly, aiming to bring her attention to the gently changing colors in the sky above them. The moon hung on to visibility and the stars were slowly fading into obscurity as warm oranges and pinks began to reach across the sky.

Warning: Indigo should be considered a Mature Character.
