Feeling Indigo's weight settling into the bed was one of the most comforting sensations Emersyn had ever felt. Her body buzzed with that nervous alert when his large, muscled, masculine form threatened to swallow her up, but it faded into white noise the moment his arm hooked around her back and he brought her into a safe embrace. His body was warm, strong, his fur thick yet soft. An idle paw began to roam up his side to rest on his broad chest, feeling every cord on muscle beneath her digits. A shaky sigh left her while more unfamiliar feelings swarmed her head and her heart, warming her from the inside out. Em easily settled in against him, nosing her snout through his fur and drinking in his scent. Indigo felt like home to her; wherever he was, she felt like she belonged—like she was loved.

Indigo's quiet words brought a slight mist to her eyes, A smile crept over Em's face in the dark while she blinked back the crystalline emotions welling up in her eyes. "Me too," she whispered quietly, her paw gripping at his fur in the dark. He was her island in an empty sea, her foundation to rebuild her life on. Indigo was the physical embodiment of the love that she had never received. Not from her parents, not from her owner, not from her fellow slaves. Just him. Craning her neck back just a bit to peer up at him, seeing his silhouette in the dark, Em had never felt more intimately connected to a wolf before. Maybe it was her soul yearning for that love she'd never had, or maybe it was something else. All she knew was something compelled her to lift her muzzle up and place a slow, soft lick underneath his chin, then another on the end of his muzzle. It was a gentle, wordless request. Aqua and cobalt eyes burned while they met his, begging him for some more of that love she was starved for.

Love me, Indigo. The words were never spoken out loud, but her eyes screamed it for him. It was all she could hope for that he would understand and she wouldn't have to push herself to say it—not yet, at least.
