They were so close that every tension and hesitation was obvious under Indigo’s touch, but each knot and resistance was smoothed at his caress. Surprise, uncertainty, and panic… he could feel her experience all of it and yet against it all she melted against him and into his touch. She whispered back to him in return, her lips brushing against his as she yielded to his touch. She put her trust in him, there was no idle word she spoke and she kept her vow. She proclaimed she was his now, and she wanted it to be so in every way. Indigo welcomed her closer and eagerly into his embrace. He wanted to show her what life could bring. This feeling she had right now was the opposite of everything she had known so far. Love instead of indifference.

She clung to him as though she couldn’t get close enough to him, and the feeling was mutual as one dark paw trailed down her back and pulled her even closer to his belly. There was swirling indecision but Emersyn showed no resistance, she pulled at him offering all that she was with their first real kiss. She wrapped her strong arms around his neck and pressed into his explorative kiss, giving him everything as they shared in each other’s affection and devotion. Her kiss was desperate and needy, and Indigo didn’t hesitate to indulge her wholly. Emersyn didn’t have to vocalize what she wanted, she spoke plainly in the way her body moved against his, how her lips navigated his own, the soft whine that fell from her lips as she urged him on with her breathy command. Indigo wouldn’t disobey, and the two of them spent the night in bliss together. Learning each other intimately, Em trusted him with her heart, body, and soul.

He never really released her that night and it wasn’t until the sun was streaming in on his face that Indigo realized he had even fallen asleep. Emersyn was still curled in his arms in what felt like the perfect place after the night she gave him. He woke smiling, not an easy feat when he felt like nightmares plagued him all too frequently. Much like she guarded the door when he was injured she warded away the dreams that might disturb him. Indigo nuzzled into the soft fur of her neck, certain she would feel the pull of wakefulness sooner rather than later. The sight of her peacefully sleeping coupled with the deeper way he knew her filled his chest with an accomplished warmth. Like he had found his purpose, and every dream he ever had paled in comparison to the life he was living. There was only one alternative he would have given everything for, but this was perfect. He’d made his own family, and each one of them became an essential part.
