its coarse and rough

She tackled Ophie and went headfirst into the water herself. It was all sandy and gross, not the kind of place she really wanted to be swimming around in but Kaija often did things without really thinking about the consequences. That was a trait she'd definitely inherited from her father. She got a noseful of water and nearly choked on it when she surfaced, spitting the muck of her mouth and gasping for air when she surfaced again. At least the river was shallow enough to stand in and Kaija quickly pulled herself upright and tried to get a better look at Ophie, now fully soaked. She was glad to run into a friend again - though Kaija was extremely social, she didn't have many wolves she could consider friends, but somehow Ophie fell into that category.
She beamed widely at her, finally moving to the edge of the little river. Her own tail was waving wildly behind her and she didn't bother to contain her excitement. "Yeah, been awhile!" She exclaimed as she batted at the water in retaliation, sending a faint spray in Ophie's direction. They were both yearlings now, having grown into their frames; Kaija was much taller than her friend, but Ophie seemed quite a bit stockier, not that Kaija was all that small herself. Either way they were both kinda grown up now but Kaija certainly didn't feel like it. "Whatcha doing all the way out here? It kinda sucks here," she admitted a bit somberly. Lately she'd been thinking a lot about heading out on her own or tagging along with her dad in his travels, but she wasn't really sure yet.
