The wind and rain assaulted him, twisting mercilessly through his coat, and partly blinding his blue eyes. He ignored the discomfort, tilted as he was up at the sky. Glaring at the storm. It was going to make for a very unpleasant watch tonight, but it would not keep him from his post. He wasn’t sure yet exactly what he would do if he heard thunder crackle across the sky. He would take it in stride, and ensure Zee was okay.
He almost missed the creak of the door, and the whisper of her voice. The whistling wind snatching them from her muzzle. But it was Zee, and a part of him must have been listening out for her voice. He turned, and found the familiar features of her, sticking partly through the door.
He sighed softly, but knew the longer he delayed, the more she was likely to get wet. He shook out his coat - a useless endeavour, as the rain was hard enough to soak him again almost instantly. He dove through the door, brushing gently by her, before ushering her back to her room with a gentle paw. Once she was clear of the ‘hallway’ he shook out his coat there, and placed himself in the doorway, seating his rump down there. “What woke you, the storm?” he asked, his voice equally as soft.
