She froze. He felt the tension in her build as he told her exactly what had happened. Duchess betrayed him, went against his will and was putting them all in danger with her actions. He would have been able to see that more clearly were his mind sharper. He hadn’t been able to sleep and now he was suffering in part because of it. He felt sick since the moment Aslatiel left him and it hadn’t let up yet. Heart sick and upset in his belly Indigo felt, and looked, like a wreck. He knew he couldn’t keep going like this. He had to sleep, rest, and recover for the wolves that were counting on him. It was hard when he felt so much more like a shell than a leader.
It hurt even worse as Emersyn ceased her comforting touch, her voice turned flat but not uncaring. She was bothered much more than she let on but Indigo didn’t have the faculties to pursue. Her words bit and nipped, though they were nothing compared to what Aslatiel had said to him. Indigo had no intention of siring puppies anytime soon, the whole band knew that very clearly. He supplies herbs to plan that moment down the road. Once they were established. Duch picked the worst moment to go against him. He’d lost Aslatiel because he’d put so much trust in her. ”I know, there’s a lot about last night I regret.” Anything, he would have done nearly anything to reverse the events as they transpired.
She was gone and now he had a flailing band that needed his care and attention more than ever. He felt like he was physically wounded again, but now he had heavier decisions on his shoulders and what felt like less of a brain to work with. ”I don’t know. I have to do something, but...” He didn’t even know what to do with himself. ”I just want to sleep.” Indigo told her honestly. He was exhausted mentally and physically so even if he gave her a real answer it could and would likely change. ”What would you do?" He asked her softly but loud enough to be heard over the falls as he lowered his head to his paws.
