The night was bleak and cold, the moon a faint sliver behind the clouds as the Ashen raiding party approached Sparse Pines. The trees loomed above as long shadows, stretching dark across the white of the snow, a stark contrast as if the world had lost its colour. Only greys and monochromes remained. Hattori breathed deep, the air a chill in the back of his throat, and noted how faint the scents were. It was just as he'd been told, the borders weren't well maintained or patrolled, and as he scanned the flat surroundings he saw nothing of note. Nothing to make him hesitate or rethink their intentions.  There were no fresh paw prints or tracks, just a pristine layer of snow, ready to be trampled.

He glanced behind him to the shadows, to the figures emerging from the depths of the woods. The wind was in their favour and blew westerly, further adding to the element of surprise. To strike hard and fast when the opponent least suspected it, this was the shinobi way. And it was time.

Stepping over the border that marked Winterfell land from the wilderness Hattori rolled his shoulders, it had been some time since he or anyone else for that matter had been given the opportunity to let loose. He tipped his head back and the howl that rolled over his lips was deep and thunderous, it echoed off the trees a call for conquest for all to hear. Not weighed down by his equipment or hesitation, the Shogun broke into a charge, his paws leaving wide tracks in his wake.
