No turning back now

Lack of experience was definitely one word for it, but Kaija liked to think what she lacked in practical experience she made up for in raw determination. At least that was her probably overly high opinion of herself. She kicked back with all her might with her one free leg while the other was held firmly in Briar's grasp. It was far from an advanced move but it seemed to work, at least for a moment; Kaija felt her back paw hitting her square in the face, but instead of the kick sending Briar away from her she felt her own body jerk backwards. She felt her lower half slip as she hit the ground with a solid thud that nearly knocked the wind out of her. But she felt Briar release her leg and clumsily stumbled up onto all fours, trying to regain her balance as she swung around and aimed a charge at Briar again, jaws parting as she aimed straight for her muzzle. She hoped she might be able to regain control of the fight now, though given how long it took her to spin around and find her balance again she wasn't so sure that was possible now.
