The coldest part of the year was rapidly approaching and Mara found herself just as grumpy about it as she had been the last time summer up and left her. Part of her mind whispered that she should just bite the briar and move someone tropical, where she would develop a taste for crustaceans and never see another stupid snowflake for as long as she lived. Thoughts like these had propelled her farther and farther south, trying and failing to keep ahead of the encroaching freeze. There was plenty of open country between The Accursed Northâ„¢ and Wherever She Was Headedâ„¢ but sooner or later she caught a whiff of pack smell and grumbled again as she turned to chart a new path clear of their borders.

She wasn't exactly carrying expectations with her, beyond dry grass and scarce game, but that didn't mean she was any less surprised to find a congregation growing on the other side. She had heard something a little while ago, but she'd been too busy muttering to herself to pay it any mind. Her eyes narrowed, steps faltering until she stood still. If she'd gone out of her way to avoid accidentally trespassing only to get swept up into pack bullshit anyways she was going to be pissed. Standing downwind, she gave a cautionary sniff and was met by all sorts of mingling scents, but no real cohesion to them. What, was there some new spectator sport she wasn't aware of? Playing a game of I'm-Not-Touching-You with pack wolves? Yikes. Mara was moments away from slinking back into the undergrowth to find a new-new path further south when a flicker of light caught her attention. Was that... She gasped, blue eyes wide with disbelief.

Fire? Sweet, sweet warmth? Okay yeah, fuck it, she was absolutely willing to get press-ganged for that. No, she was absolutely not being a big ol' baby over a little chill, these were dire straits! With that target locked on she resumed trotting forwards, spirits much lifted and an easy smile stretched across her face. Coming closer, Mara couldn't help but notice that this buncha weirdos also seemed to have brought food, what she'd bet her tail was alcohol of some kind, and... a monkey, real keen on expressing his artistic side. Boy-oh-boy did she have questions, and while those questions could wait introductions probably shouldn't. "Room for one more in... whatever this is? Specifically by this beautiful beastie?" Mara called out by way of greeting a few yards away, cutting right to the chase, barely sparing a glance for the wolves themselves in favor of staring longingly into the flames. Gods, it was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. If she had a few more inches on her, concocting an elaborate heist would be very much on the table, consequences be damned.
