He’d recognized the companion that had come bearing news of a party, and so, he’d gathered those in Valhalla that had missed the message to let them know, and a day or two prior to the party, they set out. [Keeping vague so any yearlings from Valhalla can choose whether or not they came with him or went a little earlier or later.]
He’d made his mother aware of the plans, both as a courtesy to his mother as an alpha and a parent, and a safeguard—if, by some horrible twist of events, this turned into something out of a scary story, or he and his fellow Valhallan Yearlings were attacked on the way there, whether by slavers or predators, he wanted his mother to have a general idea of where to look to bring help. He didn’t want a repeat of his grandmother and uncle’s disappearances.
His mother was pleased by the chance for the young wolves of Valhalla to meet others their age from other packs, or loner life, so it wasn’t a matter of convincing her. If anything, she’d have booted them out to go have a little fun if he’d been hesitant. She wouldn’t hold them back from enjoying themselves as long as they were responsible enough to know their limits and to cause no trouble with other packs.
The pouches bore a few clay bottles of alcohol, packed in rabbit pelts to protect them from the jarring of travel, as well as a few packages of dried meat, spices, and herbs for cooking. He wore a harness that his four large pouches could buckle to, though it wasn’t a harness he used often, but it had been made clear that this would be a party and a tourney like the one held by Ashen, where you fought on your own merits without weapons, armor, or companions to assist and protect you. Lyr came along, though. He’d sit out the fights but having him along meant being able to see problems in the road ahead on the way.
The path to the site was relatively easy to find, and he led the way down the path, Legacy on his tail with her own pouches of goodies.
They weren’t the first to arrive, and he set out the foods and drink, grinning aside at the bulky girl already perusing the selections, before making his way to Dagrún, grinning. He hadn’t seen the girl since they’d been pups, but that had been an eventful meeting, all things considered.
“Hey, long time no see. How have you been?”
His tone was cheerful, ears perking to see if she’d answer, though he wouldn’t push for one as he scanned the river, noting some places that might be great to pluck fish out of.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.
Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.
More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.
His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.
A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.
Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.
He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.
