Kuroki clicked his teeth in frustration, annoyed that Hattori was able to read his intentions so easily. He didn't even have time to react and try again before a blur of orange dipped in, so fast and sudden it almost didn't seem real. Like Hattori had no right to be this good. It was more than enough to knock the Prince off his paws, he didn't stand a chance. Or at least that's what it felt like in that moment.

He landed hard, tumbling as the momentum sent him hurtling, mind spinning and senses askew. He stared up at the Shogun, resentment dawning in the dark of his eyes and from his low position on the floor he made to lunge for the expanse of Hattori's neck.

No doubt left wide open in order to tempt Kuroki to do something dumb. To risk an all or nothing approach.
