die and rise again and again [ASHEN MEETING]
Kiyo sat next to her grandchildren with a smile on her lips, ghostly grey eyes fixed on her son and daughter-in-law. Ever the elegant woman with words, Venom did all the speaking for both her and her husband. Hattori, of course, being trained in diplomacy, was well versed in public speaking, but there was no need for him to say anything at that moment anyhow. His wife was perfectly capable, something the Apothaker admired about her greatly. When she finished her speech, Kuroki and Kitsune were quick to ask to challenge. It suited them both, she mused, though when Takeshi stood as well and wrote his request in the snow, she had to admit she was a bit surprised.
She looked at him, trying to hide the worry from her face. The boy had had it rough for several months, being plagued near constantly with migraines, so he’d fallen behind in training. Since the migraines had dissipated, he’d been exhausting himself to the point of near collapse, visiting her often to treat his scratches and bruises. He’d instructed her not to tell his parents or siblings of his plight, but he was running himself ragged and it pulled at her heart. She’d told him time and time again that he was good enough, that he was loved and cherished, but she could see in his eyes that he didn’t believe her. He wouldn’t. She worried that if he challenged and lost, it would just knock him down even further. But, he’d already made his show and she couldn’t embarrass him by refusing.
Kiyo turned forward, looking to her Empress. “My Empress, Takeshi wishes to challenge for the rank of Samurai against Lament,” she instructed, bowing her head antlered head gracefully. “If I may, I would also like to remind our members that sickness runs rampant in the winter months, due to members’ close proximity to each other. Please, be sure that you are keeping warm, drinking plenty of water, and resting. None of us are immune to mother nature and her woos. Do not hesitate to see me if you are feeling under the weather, your health is my utmost priority,” she spoke, scanning her gaze around the circle to the wolves present and offering her characteristic gentle smile.
