Haiku hadn’t ever seen Bowen so frightened, not even when he had saved her life from the wood chuck. He knew he should have gone out with her that morning, but even if he truly wanted to just carry her everywhere the rest of their days that was unfair to her. So he’d slept in just a little and he regretted it immediately. Thankfully Bowen faced no life threatening scare, but it was so unsettling she hadn’t even properly given him a description before he’d followed her where she had seen it.

The dire boy stayed close to his candy corned girl, worried over her, and never once acting as though he doubted a word that came out of her mouth. Not when she had that look in her eye. Haiku’s chocolate bar fur stood on end as their paws carried them into the gardens. Still at her side his sharp gaze wandered the landscape, worried over every shuffle of leaves or sound in the distance. There didn’t seem to be any sign of glowing bugs or rabbits now.

"Do you think we’ve done something wrong?” He asked softly. If the tension felt negative maybe they weren’t supposed to be here. Maybe the pack had made nature mad? He’d heard about his father visiting the dead, but he visited them, not the other way around. "What do you think it meant?”

"Bowen & Haiku"
