There was no sign of the rabbit or the fireflies now, but there were other strange things. The various plants around the garden seemed to be covered in an iridescent sheen. It took her a moment, but Bowen soon realized that there was no sound here. No crickets or night birds. No rustling of leaves. Just absolute silence. The girl somehow moved closer to Haiku as she made the realization. "Why isn't there any noise, Haiku?" She never used his name unless the situation was a serious one and she found this situation to be quite serious.

Green eyes scanned the somewhat lifeless area around them and that was when Bowen noticed the mist. A trail of blue mist was snaking towards them like a ghost. The girl couldn't even find her voice, but she nudged her lover, forcing his attention towards the slow moving mist. Bowen's gaze was then pulled to the area behind the mist. Two blue dots glowed in the darkness there. The dots moved and soon a luminescent rabbit hopped into the light of the clearing. Bowen nudged Haiku a little harder, her eyes the size of saucers. All around the rabbit, those blue fireflies were appearing. Just a few at first, then slowly more and more and more appeared. Bowen gave a little squeak as she could feel the wave of displeasure pour off of the ghostly lapine. "We saw it. We know it's real. We should go!"
