Suspense was a long way from home, it wasn't really all that surprising all things considered. Two of her siblings had up and disappeared and her one remaining brother wandered pretty far on his own. The problem of course being that while Suspense also wanted to be off having her own adventures it was significantly harder for her to get around for some reason. Still, she wasn't one to be stopped by logic! Suspense had bid her parents a farewell letting them know she planned to be back within a week or two and then set off.
It had taken some time for her to get to the desert, even in mid-winter it was quite warm and dropped to quite cold during the night. So it was a little relieving when she'd stumbled upon the valley, even if it was later than she might had wanted. The off-putting blue light of the full moon casting the whole area in an unnatural glow. As far as Suspense was aware the fireflies weren't all that confusing though, she'd grown up seeing the yellow variety everywhere and had no real frame of reference for there not to be other colors. It was the occasional other animals she saw, all small prey animals, that seemed to give off a light that really gave her reason for concern. It gave her the chills and she couldn't help but feel a little bit better when she caught the scent of another wolf, picking up her pace and calling out to the bigger youth when she spotted.
"Hey!" She called out, picking up her pace to try and catch up, a considerable feat considering her own diminutive stature.
