Sunlight had beat heavily down on his ebony pelt, warming his skin to a point near boiling. Erebos felt none of it. Though he should have been panting and sweating, the blood running through his veins felt ice cold and caused him to shiver instead. It probably helped that he was seeing snowflakes falling from the sky before him, the hallucination adding to the effect of the depression on his psyche.

The feelings of loss and sadness were only just beginning set in, but unless Erebos found some good company soon he knew what it would mean. He still had measurable control over his life at this point. He still made sure to complete his daily tasks, but his meticulousness was disappearing. He was slowly but surely losing control.

He had arrived at the cave early in the day and sought shelter there, knowing he needed to rest and hoping to find something to drink or eat within the area protected from the heat. He had taken his fill from the pool before settling to nap in the far back, waking only at the sound of another. A feeling of eagerness consumed him at the possibility of another wolf for him to converse with, and he quickly rose to his feet to inspect the source of the sound that had risen him.

When the brute noticed his approach, he ignored him for a moment, causing Erebos to seat himself and patiently wait for some other reaction from the male. His voice came forth finally, a puzzling question that encouraged a tilt of the head. Erebos gave a shrug as he replied in an equally indifferent tone laced with a hint of exhaustion.

I think I will be neither, and I think such philosophies are a waste. No one idea ever fits anyone perfectly.
