Magnus struggled with the fireflies for sometime, struggling more to keep on his three feet than with the bugs, but struggling nonetheless. They didn't seem to be causing him any harm but he wasn't really slowing down to find out either. They were freaky, something he'd never seen before in this life or his distant past, and he really just didn't want them to be too close. He wasn't even aware of the other approaching, even though they were still distant and not easy to see in the seemingly never ending darkness that was apparently normal now.
The other wolf called out, warning him of their bite, but Magnus hardly did as told. He was most certainly not going to stop moving. That seemed like the prime opportunity to bite someone. It was much harder to bite a moving target, and so Magnus ignored the instructions and only heeded the warning that followed. It was starting to exhaust him though, with all the slipping and sliding in the sand that he was doing, snapping wildly at the bugs that seemed to be impossible to catch. Shouldn't he have caught one by now?
As soon as he thought it, a bitter taste filled his mouth and he stopped almost entirely just to get the foul taste from his mouth. With one of their own virtually eaten, the bugs seemed to calm down and moved away from the man, but continued to hover nearby as if they were watching him.
