Come Whatever May [Pesto]

Jupiter had a problem. Well, maybe. It felt like a problem even though nothing nefarious had happened yet. He'd napped under a fallen log and upon waking discovered the walls around him had sprouted mushrooms. Their sudden growth was weird, yes, but he was no mushroom expert and he wouldn't have thought much about it were it not for two things: the first was that they glowed. The second - and this was where his unease stemmed from - was that they seemed to be pulsing with his heartbeat.

So naturally he brought a sampling of the scary mushrooms to the smartest medically minded bean he knew. "Awarr?" he slurred around a mushroom-sporting slab of wood just as Pestilence started to speak. Jupiter was approaching from the opposite side of the den as Alarr but he recognized Pestilence's voice immediately. "Yeah," he said before shifting the wood around. "Wah da fawk? Ah mean..." he set the slab down and then gestured to it. The mushrooms were pulsing steadily. "Look at this shit." Another emphatic gesture. "That's my heartbeat."
