stay a little while

One could indeed see a great distance across plains, and it wasn’t all that far to where the pack’s boundary lines lay. So it was if she watched she might notice a small deer with fangs approach, eating up the grass as it neared the packland. It seemed unphased by the scent of wolves ahead. Its tail flashed merrily back and forth as it enjoyed the good grazing.
It wouldn’t be long though before a wolf approached the deer, not to hunt it but apparently talk to it. “Torch, this is too close.” Kichi spoke to his friend. He glanced past the deer towards the plains, spotting the other wolf. Cautiously he took in the scents, he was at the fringe of the border but not quite crossing a line. Depending on how fine of a line they labeled it. “You can’t just walk on another's pack land.”
The deer barked a short response and stomped a hoof in some apparent irritation.
“I don’t care, now c’mon.” He never let his eye drop from watching the wolf on the lands beyond. Kichi was well aware that he traveled with a natural food source for his own kind, one relatively easy to kill with its smaller size and lack of horns. Would the wolf be offended by their presence. Kichi was no coward but he didn’t plan to stay long enough in case more of the pack was close.
