The grand hall did certainly look very grand tonight. The work everyone had done to make the space fit for a celebration had paid off. The tables were decorated with runners of fabric and vases full of Auster summer flowers, garlands and ivy were draped over the windows, door way, and hearth. He had been working on prepping food with Eska all day and now the tables were filled with meats, berries, wines, and any other treats he could find. The giraffe that the pack had brought down made up a bulk of the offerings, but there was deer, boar, and smaller game like rabbits and fish as well.
He knew everyone had been on edge since the world around them had taken a strange turn, but he forged on with the plans for their feast anyway. He felt like they could all use a bit of a reprieve from the strange and odd happenings of the dark world around them. The fire in the hearth was burning bright and there were smaller beeswax candles made in jars scattered around the room, giving everything a warm and welcoming glow. He stood at the head of one of the tables, but he wouldn't sit at the head table. That place had been or Resin and her family the last time this feast was held and it would remain that way—except this time it would be for Artorias as their Aegis.
Ulric turned his silver gaze to Artorias now that the final prep was done, giving him a smile. "You should do the honors and call for everyone," he said, giving the young leader a nod. He would finally get to announce to the pack that Artorias had taken over the roll. It felt like a fitting event to officially hand over the title even though most of the pack had surely heard of the change by now. He sat back onto his haunches near the front of the hall, waiting for the rest of the pack to join them.
