The axe in your grasp hits the crystal and at that moment two things happen. The first is that where you might have assumed a shattering noise instead you hear a clear almost musical ringing come from the crystal. The second is that the moment the axe touches the crystal... It gives you a splitting headache right away. Even when you remove the axe from the side of the crystal, which shows no sign of breaking off yet, the pain in your head persists.

Maybe you shouldn't have done that...
