The beginning after the end

It didn't take long for Askell to settle into a fighting stance, giving him a moment to get his bearings before striking. Veigar widened his stance in anticipation of an attack, ready for whatever what was to come - or so he hoped. He hoped he could at least hold his ground for a little while and not make a complete fool of himself. Instantly he felt the older boy's jaws nipping at his shoulder. Instead of trying to wriggle free from his grasp he sought to return the bite, aiming for the scruff just below Askell's throat. He hoped he could at least grab hold of something, knowing gaining control over his throat would be too difficult for him.
