Hattori whirled on him, and Lament raised a paw slowly, placating. He wanted no violence with his leader. No revenge for the life so easily wasted at the Koi-wols feet. If he felt anything it was sadness, a bitter sort of hollow carved through his heart. Hattori didn’t turn his bloody fangs upon Lament, however. Instead the rage seemed to pitter out in the younger wolf, and his voice was slurred and senseless.

“I know you, Hattori. My Shogun. I pledged to follow you and yours to the ends of the world. Well, here it is, the world's end.” He whispered softly. Some of the sadness etched into his face in a way it never did when he had been living. His cold, dead body seemed unnoticed by either wolf behind him.
