Levi heard his big brother coming, the thud of his oversized puppy paws was unmistakable like someone was felling trees in the next territory over. Whipping around extra light and dainty on his paws, he deftly ducked out of the way, skittering out of reach of Basilisk’s gangly limbs. How tall was he really gonna get? It didn’t bother Levi in the least to be the smallest, but a boy couldn’t help but wonder why he’d gotten the short end of the stick.

Not bothering to growl back, Levi instead sprung up onto his hind legs, hoping to hook a claw into the loose fur around his neck so he could climb on up and be the taller one for once. Even at such a tender age he knew his claws were different, not so good at cutting but more than enough to hook on and scratch. To help him clamber up places where other sorts of claws would struggle to get a grip.
