After the strange encounter with his brother and that even more strange cloaked person, Mac was left with four glowing mushrooms that acted as currency and an object made up of the same glowing fireflies as those that speckled the skies. He padded through the dark nook, illuminated by the moon’s silver pools of light and the glowing of the mushrooms and crystals. Seeing the mushrooms as he passed by them created a little knot in his stomach, though. Ever since he and his brother tasted the things, the effects afterward were enough to steer him away. And that fear that had swallowed him whole, so intense in his merciless grip around his very mind..how odd. And frightening, really, for a young child. Even a confident one as he.
The speckled child continued through the grassy clearing, light on his feet. The fear still lingered like a heavy fog, but he couldn’t say he let it get to him. He was too strong for that, thanks to hanging out with his older brother. Misery was teaching him all the best things about how to see the world in a critical thinking light, and he absorbed all his knowledge like a little sponge. That’s what pups were, anyways - little sponges on four stubby legs, taking in everything their elastic brains could possibly handle. Thus, his resilience win out, and fear caved in. He was better than it.
The child was pacing back and forth, because he had received an object from that weird cloaked guy and didn’t know what it did. He wasn’t really thinking at the time, anyways. He figured it might have some purpose he just didn’t know about..yet. Picking it up in his forepaws, he frowned as he looked it over. It was made up of fireflies, but it held a certain weight to it, like a tangible object. He wondered what it did. The entity that sold it to him didn’t reslly clarify how to use it, but for some reason, he felt compelled to put it to his ear, not realizing that that was how one used a phone. He didn’t even know what a phone was, but he felt an urge to place it by his ear and wait for something to happen.
