“I don’t know where you came from” she said, knowing she was helpless to do anything for him. It was a wonder he could even hear her at all. Was that a mushroom she could see sticking out from one of his ears? He was a young wolf, and his coat had been pretty once. Sleek, with greys in artful streaks. She couldn’t even tell what his eye color was anymore.
Perhaps what he needed was a chance to forget, to let himself drift away, if just for a moment. ‘Are you hungry?” she asked after a moment, digging into a small satchel to grab out some mushrooms she had harvested some time ago. They had the potential to send him far away, at least for a time. It wasn’t exactly what he was asking for, but it was all she could give. She placed them on the ground before her, and took a few step backs. “Come, they are on the ground over here.” she directed him.
