Relearn the basics

Rudyard jogged to the training field. It wasn’t a casual jog though, he timed his pace and paid attention to his body and how his paw struck the ground for the best natural feel when it pressed on ground. Occasionally he’d make a hopping pivot to one side or the other. This was a problem he still ended up occasionally stumbling or at least leaning too far into the turn. With these basic flaws, he could end up dead in a regular fight.
There was only one thing to do. Stopping once in the training field he called for someone to join him in a spar. He’d take as many beatings as needed until he had mastery over himself again. Standing still he’d occasionally shift his weight on the bad paw subconsciously feeling how it felt or didn’t feel where it should where the toes were missing. It had taken a good while to acknowledge that the phantom pains weren’t real, there were no toes there to feel pain in them.
