Pumped up kicks

The sound that came from the dog’s mouth, admittedly, startled her. She fought to keep herself from skittering to the side and her bi-colored gaze cast a bewildered glance at him from her peripherals. She had no idea a canine could make that sort of sound, but then again, she’d never seen a canine quite like the one she was racing. Her attention went forward once more as the pair got closer and closer to the strange metal contraction, taking in a big breath before she gave herself another push, her strides eating away at the ground as she plowed headlong toward their destination, determined to be first. She was, perhaps, a bit too competitive.
