Today had already been wonderfully, fantastically eventful. Halo was settling in well here. With Idalia’s help she’d chosen a plot in the garden, one that would get partial sun and shade depending on the time of day, with a corner that stayed shaded all day long. They’d also made quick work of choosing a site for her den. That, and the girl had been nice company. For the first time in what felt like a long time, Halo felt seen among the Armada. She could only hope that the rest of her packmates were so kind.

Halo had taken a quick nap before the excitement that would come later. The Warlord himself had said that he’d teach her how to defend herself in the evening, and that time was closing in. Halo departed her new den early, for fear of getting lost and being late. At this point, her biggest worry was disappointing Sirius. It was that worry that left her arriving early, and laughably so. Instead of evening it was more like late afternoon when Halo approached the obelisk. She would take her time to read over the laws of the land once more, continuing to commit them to memory.
