Time for Freedom

Ah, sunlight. Glorious, bright, warm. She didn't quite realize she had missed the absence so much in the weeks of darkness that winter offered, form when she stepped back into Boreas with barely a glimmer on the horizon until the several weeks of pure darkness before the sun returned. Even into spring, which really just extended the winter. Until the temperature warmed quite a bit, it was the sun that warmed and melted the snow. The South was never bad for snow, but it kept a chill and prevented the growth of new vegetation. Things were only just starting to grow, and it made her wary of how that would impact the growing season and the future seasons. For now, though, she was going to enjoy one of her favourite areas near home. A place that she had made her home, for now.
The Orchard. A beautiful, wild place with sweet fruits in the summer and fall, and beautiful flowers in the spring. Those were only just budding now; late, but still there. Thankfully. Half of spring had been lost to the darkness, but the light was changing it rapidly here in the south. Some trees were already starting the bloom, others still only bud, and some flowers on the ground blooming in full. The warmth made her sleepy; she stretched out in a nice grassy patch, sprawling right on her side as she heaved a sigh. She was full for now, with no need to hunt, having successfully hunted the day prior... so for now, she would enjoy the grasses and the warmth and the sweet smells of a beautiful spring day.
