catching strays
Imperia!
It was impossibly warm here, although the humidity was stifling. When the rains started, he hadn't even noticed them. So damp was his pelt that the initial sprinkles had hardly registered until they became a steady patter. With a grunt of surprise, the hellish goliath flattened his ears in irritation and started moving with a great deal more speed in each long stride. Ash cloaked paws moved in a quick, heavy trot that carried him in the direction of a notable quiet space amidst the growing drum of rainfall all around him. Sure enough, he immediately noticed the absence of rain striking his face as he slipped beneath the overhanging ridge near the outskirts of the rolling plains of the valley. The roots of a particularly old tree on the edges of the ridge were holding the substrate in place and offering cover for the waterlogged titan, with more than enough space to get comfortable. He shook the warm rain from his thin summer coat, and slumped against the gentle curve of the back wall. Cool earth welcomed him like a tender embrace, mingling with the shaggy fibres of his pelage as he slid down onto the equally damp earth under his paws. Sprawling out with one thick foreleg under his head, the blind giant settled in for the long haul. The rain storms were constant, and only occasionally long lived, so he was decided ambivalent about the change in weather. He'd probably pick up his ambling walk through the surrounding territories to the grove in a few hours at most. With the rolling thrum of heavy rains against the earthen roof over his head, and the growing aroma of damp loam flooding his nostrils, the beast found himself drifting off. Rather than fighting the nap, he decided to let himself drift off. His family likely wouldn't be the wiser to his departure anyways. Sighing heavily, milky white eyes fluttered shut and there was as rare peaceful expression upon his dark features as he fell asleep in his subterranean alcove. speech |
