Bronze was certain that no creature in the entire world could be as happy as he. Unblinkingly he watched the pups wriggling near Silent's belly as she slept, feeding hungrily, whimpering and afraid. He shifted closer, curling about them protectively, wanting no one to even so much as breath on his children right now. His head lifted slightly when he heard the King's voice. Carefully he tilted his muzzle towards the den's entrance, not wanting to disturb Silent or Song -- but he knew they were tired enough to sleep through a storm right now. "Four from us. Our friend has given birth here, too, to four. Song, from Ludicael." His words were nearly cut off as he heard the voice of another interrupting the silence of the den, and he rolled to his side to gaze at the stranger. Instinctively his hackles raised and he found himself snarling silently, as though amazed a stranger would even approach the den of not just one, but two birthing mothers. But he held Song's scent, and he figured it was indeed the father of her children. "Cherokee, I presume? Come inside, meet your children." His voice was hushed, and he rolled back over to watch his babes, knowing Maverick would not send him away despite that he had not been granted permission -- as a man who was to be having children himself soon, Bronze presumed he knew how important this moment was for all of them. |
