Walk | "Talk" | Think

As befitted her status in comparison to his own, the Imperial wolf lifted her head and tail in answer to Rune's fealty, ever conscious of her position and importance. Rune half expected it and was not at all surprised to see her expressing that dominance that she possessed. Morphine had never struck him as the modest type, though rarely did she seem to excessively flaunt what she possessed: power, beauty, intellect. The movements were a natural motion for her, almost an afterthought, and the youthful male could only wonder what passed through the mind behind those distant silvery eyes as she regarded him with a look that hinted at thought, at distraction. His presence had possibly interrupted her internal monologue, if she had had one going, but from the look about her he thought himself safe from receiving irritation from it.

For a moment she merely stood, appraising him, and Rune did his best not to move under that stare. He held himself still, neither nervous or overly confident, merely comfortable in himself and what he could feel himself becoming. The voice of the icy queen cut the air with a suddenness that caused his ears to twitch, but her tone was not unkind or even curt. And in that moment he realized she had been making plans for him. Ludicael. The pack name rolled through his mind momentarily, doing what it could to give him a brief overview of what he knew regarding the neighboring territory. Truthfully, it was very little. His knowledge extended to knowing the pack was not so far away from Mount Volkan and stopped there, knowing no one who resided at the place or even where their allegiances stood among all the territories of Alacritia.

But was he ready to go and conduct his mission successfully? That thought made him nervous. He was still only newly begun at his newest form of practice, still overly quiet and reserved in the presence of others who could so much more easily participate in a conversation than himself. But realizing that the matter would ultimately be out of his hands - Morphine would send him when she was ready for him to go - he resigned himself to whatever her decision would be. "If that's where I'm needed to go, I'll go. I'll be ready when you give the word," Rune answered, no longer thinking of the expectations that Morphine would place on him but his own. What he wished to see of his own performance was equal if not greater than what his leader expected out of him, and in no way did he wish to disappoint either of them. And nor would he, if it could at all be helped.
