My Gratitude

Dalila lifted her head with a bit of surprise from where she was resting in the suite she shared with Siren and their children when she heard Chimera's call for her from the beach bungalows. She had been spending her evenings after days spent patrolling and tending to things around the pack with Rusalka, making sure she didn't miss out on the girl's development too much despite the time she was having to devote to leading the pack in Chimera's place. Ruse heard the call too and immediately wanted to go see her father, but Dalila told the girl she had to stay here with her Aunt Siren instead–much to the girl's displeasure. She chuckled and gave the princess' crown a kiss and tucked her into the furs before turning to trot out of the room and down to the beach. She was glad that the girl had grown to love her father so much. She knew it was hard for her daughter to be without him when she looked up to him so much, but the more time and rest Chimera had the sooner he could rejoin them fully and retake his place as the leader of their pack.

She couldn't begin to guess what he had in store for her, but she made her way down to the beach none of the less, not wanting to keep him waiting too long despite her surprise at being called at all. Of all the wolves to call for when he felt up to having company she didn't think it would be her. Perhaps Aliana or Siren, but not her. Dalila saw the campfire on the sand like a beacon in the night as the sun dipped down toward the horizon and began to disappear. Moving toward it, she found the Fenmyre King waiting for her beside the fire and she gave him a smile as she approached, her tail wagging gently. She had gotten much more comfortable around him in more recent months ever since the night that had resulted in the pregnancy that brought Rusalka into their lives and now she thought of him nearly as affectionately as she did Siren. Siren would always be her first love, but she was very quickly building permanent places in her heart for Chimera and Aliana as well. "Chimera," she greeted warmly as she came to join him, giving him a curious look. "What can I do for you?"
