I would give my life

Saturn rolled his shoulders, his sturdy muscles rippling under his wet pelt. Lake water ran off his body onto the large flat stone where he lay, and pooled at his sides. The suns heat wrapped around him, slowly drying his fur. A piece of scaly fish skin lay crumpled by his forepaws, a subtle sign that Saturn had just finished a meal. He contently wiggled his toes, awkwardly playing with the skin until it fell of the rock. He heard the faint sound waterdrops make when they hit earth and stone, and flicked his velvety gray ears towards the sound. He saw a dark colored wolf standing by the banks. Even at this distance Saturn could see blue orb in the left side of the canines skull. He respectfully moved his gaze away from the other wolfs eyes, and lingered it at the dark fur on his forehead. He watched the black creature walk to the tree and lie under its protection. He crinkled his nose, smelling the air. The lake beside them, and the lake water still clinging to his fur, masked the freshness of his own scent. But not for much longer. He warily watched the stranger, forfeiting the first move. His hind legs tensed, ready to spring and bounce away. |
