Waiting till his mother was settled, Levi pulled in a deep and steadying breath. This probably wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it felt important, like he had to give it his all. He counted to three, the beats between the numbers long and predictable so that he couldn't be accused of cheating- and then... They were off! Kicking off into a sprint, Levi strained his muscles as he set into a dashing lope. His Mother seemed shorter than he remembered, but still her legs were considerably longer than his. This was gonna be yet another uphill battle, one he was eager to face.
