Long stretches of warm days finally gave way to a drizzle of rainfall. Out along the horizon, the moon hid snugly behind thick clouds that threatened a mid-summer thunderstorm. If one were to listen closely, one could hear faint rumblings out at sea. Along the shore, at the bottom of a steep cliff, waves crashed onto the face. Frothy caps hid secrets in the dark as the petite girl peered over the edge. Beneath the cloak she had hastily made out of a deer hide, her hairless body hid from the elements. Her skin felt relief from the heat as rain scattered over the land, but she knew she couldn't be seen in such a compromise position. Turning her bare cheek back over her shoulder, her aquamarine eyes peered across the small field laden with tall grass and wildflowers. Beside her, her large Maine Coon stood protectively with yellow eyes flitting about. Since the day her hair had mysteriously fallen out, the companion had taken a more protective roll over her. Not that she had asked, but she wasn't going to deny it either. Letting out a wistful sigh as her attention turned back to the tumultuous waters, she sat down with her shoulders hunched and head hung low. What was a girl supposed to do without her beautiful coat?
