Suspense felt like she was underwater, all the time. The world felt distant, even her mother's gentle touch and her words felt like they were coming to her after years. She didn't feel like she was really in her own body. Suspense had struggled from the death of her father, he had left in the long night and taken with him a part of her, a crucial part of her she couldn't fix. Still, she knew she was the only one of her siblings Samara really had left, Ru hadn't been seen for some time and his twin and Ruin had been missing for even longer and Suspense couldn't let her mother be all alone, so she let herself be led to the carnival. Where once the tiny girl would have bounced around happily and pulled her mother along with her from booth to booth, instead she was gently guided by her mother's tail as the pair walked, unable to make herself feel the excitement she would have otherwise. She was led up to a counter and her mother gently prodded her to try. Giving her mother a weak smile she would follow after her mother's example and make an attempt at the game even if she didn't care about the outcome.
