With a careful tug Raylan pulled off the end bits of the fruit bush, and with it a small bunch of strawberries. He took some time ripping off the green stems and carefully putting the fruit into his small rucksack of supple deer hide, adding it to the mix of already-picked blueberries and blackberries, as well as a few pieces of freshly-cured meats. Taking some time, he foraged about for the fruits until the rucksack was adequately filled. There would be more than enough for him to snack on over the next few days, or even to share with another. But it had been a short while since he ran into anyone, and if he was being honest, he did feel a tad lonely. Satisfied with his haul, Raylan tied the end of the crudely made rucksack with some thick rope twine and heaved it over his shoulders like a strange-looking scarf. He grunted softly to himself, looking around with a furrowed brow as he thought over where he wanted to go next. Perhaps he could be on the lookout for that wolf he had met in the glowing mangrove? If only he knew where he lived, that would make his life a whole lot easier. After all, sharing a meal with a friend was a lot more fun than eating it alone. And so, after making sure the rucksack was settled on his shoulders, Raylan began moving vaguely southward, keeping one eye up to the sky to watch as the sun slowly descended towards the horizon. |
