Inferno managed to clip the pup, finally, and the girl released her leg in a yelp before turning on Inferno. Inferno pulled up short warily, before she could run into the girl and hurt her. Of course, the girl had no such compunctions and suddenly flung a pawful of dirt into Inferno's face. Inferno jerked her head to the side and up as quickly as she could, her eyes closing automatically against the debris. The sharp sting beneath her lids told her that she hadn't closed them quite fast enough. Rocking back on her hindquarters, Inferno shoved out blindly with her forepaws in the general direction that the pup had been at the last point she'd seen her, hoping to knock her down, or at least back.
