What Family Is All About

His family and underlings began filing in. Some members of the pack had been with him on and off during the day, aiding in the construction of the dam den. When he lay down for his break, Siren came and settled into the grass beside him. Her words brought a smile to his face and the behemoth nibbled affectionately at her cheek before turning his attention to Aliana as she lay down and looked at her plans on parchment. Her words brought a second smile from the man and he nodded. "It is," he agreed.

The pups were running amok and he felt safe letting them do so. There had been no trouble since he'd killed the intruding brute. Chimera had ousted the reptiles that had been washed up-river from the ocean. This place was safe. Ears flicked as Cerberus offered to aid Aliana. He was incredibly proud of the boy. The young man needed a challenge and Chimera would soon have one for him.

Rather than stand, Chimera stayed laying in the grass, though he didn't look any less noble while resting. The giant addressed the congregation, his voice raised so they could hear, but still level and deep. "I'm glad that we could all come together today to celebrate...us. This little feast is for all of us; a thank you for the hard work that everyone has put into Fenmyre. A thank you to everyone that has spent their spare time turning this dam into a den." As he spoke, the man's gaze swept back and forth, lighting on the face of each wolf and dog present. "This den is for all of us. Free use for any that wish for a change of scenery. Keep it clean, keep it in good shape, so that wolves of Fenmyre will be able to enjoy it for years to come."

With one big paw, Chimera swept outward, indicating the feast laid out for them. Venison, rabbit, smoked fish, cooked meats, summer berries, apples, other fruits... it was all there, ready to be eaten. "My thanks to you," he spoke his last, then pulled himself to his paws, pushing Siren and Aliana before him to the spread of food.
