Basilisk was paddling lightly in the cool water, glaring at the waves as the occasional fish dared to swim close enough to nibble at his toes. Of course, any time he retaliated they darted away so quickly that he didn’t get a chance to snap at one. Leaving him with a mouthful of salty water instead. Spitting salt from his tongue, he made his way back to shore, having enjoyed the exercise of swimming (if not the company) and found sand beneath his paws again as he reached shallow water.

He raced across the sand, and up the bank into the grassy territory, and found Hazel making her way towards him. When her eyes found him they focused, like he was just the prey she had been looking for. He waited until she got closer, and then gave his coat a very vigorous shaking off. Soaking her with droplets “Ahhhh. Good swim.” He said, sly smile on his maw.
