After his rejection by the Armada, he had been feeling reluctant to make the same offer elsewhere, despite his initial determination when he'd set out from Aerie after Pyrrhic had given him his ultimatum. But he could think of no better way to insure Aerie's safety after his death and still maintain its neutrality without binding his successor to an outright alliance with a larger pack, so reluctantly he continued on. A few packs he thought could reasonably be considered safe, like Valhalla and Abaven, and to a far lesser extent Fireside, and possibly the Hallows if their own claims of neutrality had any merit, but others he had very little interaction with on a personal level, and did not know how they might react to a perceived weakness in a smaller pack. Ashen, like the Armada, could reasonably considered an outright danger to Aerie, so he very well should have visited them next... but he was hesitant to make such an offer and submit himself to his heretic uncle's child. Thus when he finally set himself back on his reluctant course, he aimed himself at the lesser known packs. Stopping at the mainland border to one with a scent that was familiar only in that he'd happened to witness its initial attempt to rise, he raised his muzzle and called out for the alpha or alphas.
