Alastor was still getting used to the concept of having "visitors". When he'd been living in the Mirovis pack, he'd never held a rank high enough to be concerned with the comings and goings of strangers into his homelands. Now, as Genetor and alpha male, it became his sole focus of security. He wanted to know every soul in and out of the pack, every single wolf or creature that came by their way. Some would call it obsessive. He called it being thorough. The giant wolf was running a patrol with his noticeably pregnant wife, much to his chagrin as his insistence along with their healer's medical advice was ultimately ignored by the matriarch of the empire. He knew he was in the doghouse with Manea right now, but that was no excuse for her to disregard her health or the safety of their unborn children. If it had been up to him, she'd be relaxing by the lake or the ocean, soaking up the sun before winter arrived and taking it easy until the pups were born. As it stood, all he could do was scowl and bite his tongue, both of which the massive wolf did.
The howl from their borders caught both Mendaciums' attention, and after exchanging an exasperated look with Manea and knowing exactly what she'd want to do, Alastor turned to follow his wife toward the source of the call. He wished she would have just gone back to the island, nut nooooo, of course Manea wasn't going to make things easy. She'd go strolling right up to an unknown stranger on their borders, completely out of combat effectiveness, carrying their unborn children. Alastor had never questioned Manea's decisions in leadership until this bout of pregnancy, and now he was beginning to wonder if she was suicidal or just being stupid. As they approached the stranger, Alastor realized he recognized the other man. He had seen him back at Manea's challenge for the northern pack. As he recalled, the brute had strategically remained unaligned with either side, simply watching the events unfold. That made him neither friend nor foe as far as Alastor was concerned. He would give the other man a chance, though his guard remained up in defense of his pregnant mate. Alastor said nothing while Manea greeted the stranger and introduced them, giving him a courteous nod of his head when Manea said his name. He would remain silent for now, observing much in the same way the stranger had before until he knew more of this wolf and could accurately assess his intentions.
