Life isn't without change
ARMADA, OPTIONAL MEETING. LARGE CHANGES DISCUSSED
05-17-2022, 04:04 AM
Aris sigh and roused herself out of her den at her father's call. She'd been brooding there alone - having chased away both Tansy and Dirk with her snappishness - ever since the raid, but it sounded important. Well, really any meeting her dad called she'd have answered because duty had to come before moping, but it sounded especially important. Rumpled and dusty she made her way to the meeting and slouched there to wait.
What the meeting was about had her sitting back up blinking. They were moving? At first she was skeptical about the idea. They'd been here her whole life, they'd changed the lands to suit them over the course of literally generations. How would they replicate that in another land? And way up in the cold, snowy north too.
But the more she thought about it the less crazy it sounded. They'd have a harder time finding certain herbs for the healers with the growing season so short, but she'd always preferred to go off adventuring to find them anyway so she could just bring them back with her. And more importantly it would be a fresh start. Sure they'd be leaving behind places that held a million good memories, but they'd be leaving behind places that held a million bad memories, too. No more passing the spot where they'd buried the bodies her father had been convinced were her mother and brother. No more memories of passing the favorite places of siblings who didn't even stick around. Everything started off clean and fresh. Maybe she'd have a chance to finally prove herself, too. Have people view her for who she was, and not who she wasn't. Maybe even figure out who she was, herself.
She suddenly found herself wildly impatient with waiting for the meeting to finish so they could go.
