Chimera

Azzurra's eyes went wide with surprise when she suddenly felt Chimera's foreleg slip around her and all at once she was enveloped in an embrace that easily swept her up into his chest. She didn't pull away, but she did look up at him with confusion as he wiped the tears from under her eyes. She was somehow genuinely surprised when he explained that he had been abandoned as well so he knew how she felt. She didn't know much about him, but she did know that he had a very large family here... but then she realized that only one of the ladies that lived in the compound with him was his sibling. The others were his mates or wolves he brought in and his children. He had made his own family here. She looked up into his two toned gaze as he promised to never abandon her as long as she was a member of Fenmyre and even though it was difficult to believe after so much loss and betrayal it was still somehow comforting all the same. She couldn't manage a response without making herself cry again so she simply nodded and leaned her head into his chest for a moment as she slipped her forelegs around his torso to give him a quick, tight squeeze—A silent thank you for understanding and disregarding her feelings or turning them back on her.
As he tapped her shoulder she let him go and settled back down on her haunches in front of him as he suggested getting her new home fixed up. After all of that she didn't feel like she could ask him to help her get her new bungalow ready as well, but with how he offered it she could believe he actually wanted to help. She nodded eagerly, a grin tugging at her lips as she lifted a pale paw to her cheeks and quickly wiped away the last of the tears that had gathered. He gave her one last offering, a gift of whatever furs she wanted to pick from the stores. She understood that she could just take them, but she appreciated the gesture of calling them gifts. It made taking them instead of hunting her own a little easier to swallow. She nodded again and got up so she could follow him to go get the furs, her short tail wagging happily behind her.
