The Worst Is Over
Chimera

Everything had been just as normally between the two of them as Chimera joined her. He pulled the cart, they traveled mostly quietly to their destination. Reila was one of few words most the time as Chimera seemed to be too. Nothing was awkward between them. Even while Reila had other things on her mind, all that hidden anxiety was washed away when she was with Chimera. She was completely comfortable around him and... herself. As much as she could be, driven from her new life in Fenmyre.
Reila helped set up camp at the clearing they had occupied before. While Chimera got the fire ready she finished unloading the cart of the flatter pelts that were meant for more comfort than warmth given the season. Her own pelt gifted by Chimera she placed on the top of "her side". It hadn't left her bungalow since she brought it home, the gesture meant more to her than he could know but tonight she brought it along. She strapped the cart back up to protect the rest of their supplies for the night and then she joined beside Chimera by the fire.
For a long while she didn't do or say anything, she just laid there a comfortable distance from the flames and did as she normally did looking into the crackling fire. She could be lost there forever but she wanted to be lost with Chimera more. Finally she stood again, coming up to his side with that usual soft grin that never seemed to leave her maw. As she had a few times before, she lifted her paws to start kneading into his shoulder. She'd wait until he was comfortable to make sure he wanted her to touch him before she would mount over his back and start the familiar work of her own paws. "Did you need it?" The break that was, she spoke a little jokingly. But really she liked to think that Chimera needed any time with her even if that was a far fetched idea.
